NAACP Virginia State Conference Welcomes Launch of Attorney General’s Voter Protection Unit
The NAACP Virginia State Conference applauds Attorney General Jay Jones for establishing a new voter protection unit ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The section will investigate barriers to voting, enforce state election laws, and challenge efforts that restrict ballot access.
“Every Virginian deserves a fair and unobstructed path to the ballot box,” said Rev. Cozy Bailey, NAACP Virginia State Conference President. “This new unit gives our communities a dedicated resource to confront voter suppression and protect the gains our ancestors fought and died for. We stand ready to work alongside the Attorney General’s office to make sure every eligible voter in Virginia can cast a ballot and have it counted.”
The NAACP Virginia State Conference continues its work to educate voters, monitor polling locations, and support residents who encounter obstacles at the polls. The organization encourages all Virginians to confirm their registration status and know their voting rights ahead of the November 3 general election.
Voters who experience intimidation, harassment, or any problem at the polls or with their registration can call the Election Protection Hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) for assistance from trained volunteers.
