NAACP Virginia State Conference Demands Apology from Congresswoman Jennifer Kiggans
The NAACP Virginia State Conference condemns Rep. Jen Kiggans for agreeing with a radio host who said, “Jeffries, get your cotton-picking hands off of Virginia.” Such remarks perpetuate harmful stereotypes and contribute to a divisive racial climate.
As an elected official, Rep. Kiggans must promote unity and respect for all constituents. We call for a formal apology for these comments and urge her to engage in meaningful dialogue that uplifts our communities.
“Words matter, and when elected officials use racially charged language, it undermines the very fabric of our communities.”, stated President Cozy Bailey, President NAACP Virginia State Conference. “Rep. Kiggans’ agreement with such comments is deeply troubling. We must hold our leaders accountable and demand a standard of respect and dignity for all Virginians.”
