Virginia NAACP Denounces Attorney General Miyares’ Actions Towards Anti-DEI Policies
The NAACP Virginia State Conference (Virginia NAACP) condemns the action taken by Attorney General Jason Miyares for signing a letter urging the CEO of Costco to abandon its diversity policies. His actions are influenced by MAGA politics that threaten the progress made toward inclusivity in communities across the Commonwealth and falsely claiming the company’s DEI policies are illegal.
Virginia NAACP President Rev. Cozy Bailey issued the following statement:
“Attorney General Miyares’ attempt to impose a political agenda on businesses in Virginia is troubling. By urging Costco to drop its diversity policies, he aligns himself with a movement that undermines the values of equity and inclusion that our Commonwealth stands for. Racial equity and remedying systemic racism should be a core value. Instead, the Attorney General is signaling a regression to the deeply entrenched policies of yesterday.
Elections have consequences, and it is essential that we elect representatives who will stand against these divisive tactics and fight for the rights of all Virginians. The stakes are too high. We must ensure that our voices are heard and that the values of equity and diversity remain at the forefront of Virginia policies.”
The Virginia NAACP urges all citizens to participate in the electoral process and advocate for a future that embraces diversity and promotes equality for all.
