Virginia NAACP Celebrates the Life and Legacy of Henry L. Marsh, III
Today, the Virginia NAACP celebrates the life and legacy of Henry L. Marsh, III. Virginia NAACP President Rev. Cozy Bailey shared the following statement:
“When we honor our Civil Rights giants, Senator Marsh stands among them. We will continue his lifelong fight to end racial injustice in all its forms. We are grateful for his commitment to us and his guiding light.”
Senator Marsh was a lifetime member of the NAACP. His legacy in founding Hill, Tucker, and Marsh and its work against massive resistance and employment discrimination forever changed the landscape in Virginia and the United States. As the first elected Black Mayor in the City of Richmond and a Senator in Virginia, he served as a role model, mentor, and friend to all.
The members of the Virginia NAACP will miss Senator Marsh’s leadership. We honor his legacy by continuing our fight to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion.
