“In these challenging times, social justice and human rights advocacy require robust engagement in fighting systemic racism and oppression against Black and Brown communities. In our pursuit of justice for Black people, eliminating discrimination is critical to creating a better world. On a global scale, we must acknowledge and fix these ills to secure the political, educational, social, and economic rights of our community.

The generous contributions of Verizon, Gap, Billie Inc. and countless others to fuel the fight against all forms of bigotry, racism, violence, and subjugation is a step in the right direction. The work to upend the dark underbelly of discrimination within this country and around the world demands engagement from all people, sectors, and industries. This moment goes beyond financial responsibility and impresses upon all of us to ensure the political and social prosperity of the Black community.

The NAACP will not rest and is well-positioned to ensure we reach our goal in securing a better outcome for our communities in this country. After the dust has settled, we will continue to fight against ideologies and systems that seek to deny Black people in this country of their basic human rights through police violence and systematic racial discrimination.”
