NAACP Virginia State Conference and Black Women United for Action to Host the Annual Slave Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony

Black Women United for Action (BWUFA), with support from the NAACP Virginia State Conference and other partners, will host the Annual Slave Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony. This ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11 am at Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington. The event is free and will take place rain or shine.

The program features performances by the Howard, Morgan State, and Norfolk State University Concert Choirs, honoring the late Dr. Nikki Giovanni, Virginia Tech Dean Harry Robinson, Howard University Architect, and Virginia NAACP President Cozy Bailey, Historian Judge Rohulamin Quander of DC, and other notable and distinguished guests.

The community is invited to a morning of remembrance, unity, and reflection.
