Today, the NAACP released the following statement on Senator Kamala Harris ending her 2020 Presidential Race:
“Senator Harris has chipped away at a barrier in the of tradition of Shirley Chisholm and Carol Elizabeth Moseley Braun by being the third Black woman to run for president. Thanks to her run, a new generation of young people have become more politically engaged and aspire to see the atmosphere of this country change for the better. The future of our democracy is made better by her willingness to speak truth to power on a presidential platform. The NAACP will work to achieve more women and people of color run for office and break political barriers.”
