Today, the NAACP released the following statement on the glaring omissions   of the Oscars, Golden Globes, and BAFTA to nominate the diverse talent that exists in the film and entertainment industry.

We are dismayed at the fact that a wide range of relevant and inspiring films featuring various ethnicities were not nominated this awards season. This year’s nominees for the Oscars, Golden Globes, and BAFTA do not accurately reflect the best of Hollywood, but more so the whitest of Hollywood. The scarcity of Black, Brown, and Asian talent nominated is appalling and calls into question the credibility of such awards shows. There is still much work to be done to broaden representation in front of and behind the camera. The NAACP is committed to holding the film and entertainment industry to a higher standard and ensuring that the distinguished work of all communities is recognized.
